1: Om, that (Divine Illumination) which Pervades the Bhu Loka (Physical Plane), Bhuvar Loka (Antariksha Loka or the Astral Plane) and Suvar Loka (Swarga Loka or the Celestial Plane),


2: That Savitr (Divine Illumination) which is the Most Adorable,


3: On that Divine Radiance we Meditate,


4: May that Enlighten Our Intellect and Awaken our Spiritual Wisdom.

2.1: Salutations to the Ever-Victorious and Ever-Auspicious Devi Kali, Salutations to Devi Bhadrakali Who Wear a Garland of Skulls,


2.2: Salutations to Devi Durga, the Ever-Auspicious One, and One with Shiva (as His Consort), Who is the embodiment of Forbearance and Supporter of All Beings; Who is Swaha (the cosmic being to whom the individual being is surrendered) and Swadha (the cosmic being to whom the sacrificial offering goes);Salutations to You.

1: Om, We Worship the Three-Eyed One (Lord Shiva),


2: Who is Fragrant (Spiritual Essence) and Who Nourishes all beings.


3: May He severe our Bondage of Samsara (Worldly Life), like a Cucumber (severed from the bondage of its Creeper), …


4: ... and thus Liberate us from the Fear of Death, by making us realize that we are never separated from our Immortal Nature.

जटाटवीगलज्जलप्रवाहपावितस्थले

गलेऽवलम्ब्य लम्बितां भुजङ्गतुङ्गमालिकाम् ।

डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं

चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु नः शिवः शिवम् ॥१॥


(My Prostrations to Lord Shiva, the description of whose great Tandava Dance sends a thrill of Blessedness through the Devotees)


1.1: (There dances Shiva His Great Tandava) From His Huge Matted Hair like a Forest, is Pouring out and Flowing down the Sacred Water of the River Ganges, and making the Ground Holy; on that Holy Ground Shiva is dancing His Great Tandava Dance;


1.2: Supporting His Neck and Hanging down are the Lofty Serpents which are Adorning His Neck like Lofty Garlands,


1.3: His Damaru is continuously Weaving out the Sound - Damad, Damad, Damad, Damad - and filling the Air all around,


1.4: Shiva Performed such a Passionate Tandava; O my Lord Shiva, Please Extend the Auspicious Tandava Dance within our beings also.

श्रीरामचन्द्र कृपालु भजु मन हरण भवभय दारुणम् ।

नवकञ्ज लोचन, कञ्जमुख कर कञ्जपद कञ्जारुणम् ॥


O mind! Revere the benign Shree Ramachandra, who can remove the fear of rebirths ।


Who has fresh lotus eyes, lotus face and lotus hands, feet like lotus and like the rising sun ॥1॥

ॐ कृष्णाय वासुदेवाय हरये परमात्मने। प्रणत क्लेशनाशाय गोविन्दाय नमो नम:॥


Meaning:


Adorations to Lord Krishna, who is the son of Vasudeva, who is Lord hari (destroyer of ignorance), who is the Supreme Divinity!


I have taken refuge in Him. May he destroy all the afflictions (miseries) of life. My adorations to Govinda (Krishna) again and again..

मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं

जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठ ।

वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं

श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ।

1: Who is Swift as Mind and Fast as Wind,


2: Who is the Master of the Senses and Honoured for His Excellent Intelligence, Learning and Wisdom,


3: Who is Son of the Wind God and Chief among the Monkeys,


4: To that Messenger of Sri Rama, I take Refuge.

शनि स्तोंत्र


ॐ नीलांजन समाभासं रवि पुत्रं यमाग्रजम |

छायामार्तंड संभूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम ||


Meaning: ‘Looking like a blue cloud, the son of the Sun, he is the foremost of those who control. He can even put his shadow over the glorious sun. To that Saturn, the emblem of control, we bow down in devotion.’

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत । अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥४-७॥

परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् । धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥४-८॥


yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharata

abhyutthanam adharmasya tadatmanam srjamy aham


"Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself."


paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskritam

dharma-samsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge


"To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium."

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भुर्मा ते संगोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥


You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty. - Bhagavad Gita, Chapter II, Verse 47

शांताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशम्।

विश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्णं शुभाङ्गम्।।

लक्ष्मीकान्तंकमलनयनं योगिभिर्ध्यानगम्यम्।

वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथम्।।


Meaning:

1: (I Meditate on Lord Vishnu) Who has a Serene Appearance (which fills our inner being with Peace); Who is Lying on (the Bed of) Serpent (Ananta or Adisesha, representing the eternal Primal Energy or Mula Prakriti); From Whose Navel is springing up a Lotus (which is the source of all Creations through Brahmadeva); and Who is (presiding over the various elements of those Creations as) the Lord of the Devas,


2: Who is the Substratum of the whole Universe (as Consciousness); and (Boundless and Infinite) like the Sky (Chidakasha); with a Form Bluish in Colour like the Cloud, (The Form) which is radiating Auspiciousness (which fills our inner being with Bliss);


3: Who is the Beloved of Devi Lakshmi with Eyes Beautiful like Lotus petals; Who is Attainable by the Yogis only through Meditation,


4: I Worship that All-Pervading Vishnu Who Removes the Fear of Worldly Existence (by making us realize that we are not isolated beings internally but are eternally connected to Him); I Worship that Vishnu Who is the One Lord of All the Lokas (Worlds).

Meaning:


Goddess Durga is omnipresent one. She is the personification of the Universal Mother. She is the embodiment of power, peace and intelligence in all beings. I worship her with all devotion so that she blesses me with happiness and prosperity.

Meaning:


1: Om, Peace is in Sky; Peace is in Space (between Earth and Sky);


2: Peace is in Earth; Peace is in Water; Peace is in Plants;


3: Peace is in Trees; Peace is in Gods (presiding over the various elements of Nature); Peace is in Brahman (Absolute Consciousness);


4: Peace is pervading everywhere; Peace alone (which is outside) is in Peace (which is inside); May you be (established in) that Peace (and make your life fulfilled);


5: Om, Peace, Peace, Peace.

शिवयजुर्मन्त्र


Śivayajurmantra


कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारम्


karpūragauraṁ karuṇāvatāraṁ


संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम् |


sansārsāram bhujagendrahāram |


सदा वसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे


sadāvasantaṁ hṛdayāravinde


भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि ||


bhavaṁ bhavānīsahitaṁ namāmi ||


मंदारमाला कुलितालकायै कपालमालांकृत शेखराय।


दिव्याम्बरायै च दिगम्बराय, नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय। ||


Meaning:


karpūragauraṁ:- The one who is as pure as camphor.

karuṇāvatāraṁ:- The personification of compassion or the embodiment of compassion.


sansārsāram:- The one who is the essence of the world


bhujagendrahāram:- The one with the serpent king as his garland


sadāvasantaṁ hṛdayāravinde:- Always residing in the lotus-like heart

(Explanation: Hridaya aravinde means 'in the heart that is (as pure as) lotus'. Lotus, though born in the muddy waters, is untouched by the mud around it. Similarly Lord Shiva always (Sada) resides (vasantham) in the hearts of beings which are not affected by worldly matters.)
